Chance timing
The rotorua accommodation I booked for us worked out really well as the unit had a fold out couch and a friend of ours ended up staying for one of the two nights we were there. She very kindly chipped in a few dollars to contribute towards the bill. It was just by chance that she sent me a text and said she was going there for a night and we happened to be on our way, so of course I thought it made sense for her to crash with us as opposed to paying for a place by herself. My girlfriend didn’t mind as we were there on business, so it was not like she was interrupting a romantic weekend away.
