Characteristics of Apistogramma Cacatuoides
Male apistogramma cacatuoides, or apisto cacatuoides as they’re also known, are particularly beautiful, with long and brightly coloured dorsal fins, forked caudal fins and elongated ventral fins that come to a point. Their bodies are usually metallic gray with a lateral band down each side, and more stripes can be seen above it depending on the mood of the apisto cacatuoide. There are numerous colour formations that can be seen in each apisto cacatuoide population, and new formations can be introduced by selective breeding. Female apistogramma cacatuoides, on the other hand, aren’t nearly as brightly coloured or elaborate, but they often become more colourful during breeding season.
