Now with the shims on the floor, slide them in with your foot, while lifting up on the door, till you’ve got the opening that you need at the top. Take another shim or 2 and place them at the top to hold the opening and the door ready. You will have to bump them sideways rather than straight in ; because, the distance is just one 3 / 8″. Now do the same on the latch side of the interior door handles. Now you have the door precisely where you would like it, take a pencil and mark the top and bottom of the hinge locations on the door.
