Living With A Slipped Disc

If your doctor can identify the reason for your back pain through testing, and your symptoms correspond to those results then spinal surgery may be the answer to your problem.  For example, if you have sciatica or leg pain due to a slipped disc, your pain is likely to be in a very specific area of your bottom and leg, and this is borne out by imaging studies and other diagnostic test results.  However, some people choose to live with constant numbness, leg pain and back pain rather than go down the surgical route.  They will stick with conservative treatments for the slipped disc condition, usually physiotherapy and pain medication.  These symptoms, although painful, are not life threatening, and as long as they don’t worsen living with them over the long term doesn’t cause any problems.
